The wrong purple

So I know I owe you all an update on new home, new town, new job, new life… :) . But for now, let me share with you an uh oh moment.

I am planning this super secret project. I don’t think the recipient reads my blog so it’s probably safe to post this. But you might only get sneak peaks of the project until it’s unveiled, just in case. And I’ll be a tad vague below.

Ok, so the plan was to match a colour. I knew it was a deep dark purple. And of course, knowing that there are many shades of purple I was clever enough to recruit a spy to figure out what shade. And was patiently waiting to hear back from him with a photo so I could pick my yarn.

Fast forward to last week when I had just moved to my new town and went for a walk. I foind this lovely craft shop with some beautiful hand dyed lace yarn, just the right weight. In purple.

Craft Days lace

Yes, I know. That pic doesn’t look purple. What can I say, I’m crap at photographing purple. Take my word for it. It’s purple. And I wasn’t even thinking it was a red purple when I saw it, which is why I thought it’d be perfect. And bought it.

Until of course my spy sent me the photo today of the purple I was trying to match (not exactly but at least be the right shade).

The right purple

Which is definitely a blue purple, and which makes my non-red purple look like a red purple. Back to the drawing board.

But since I’m already 96 rows in to a 242 row centre, I’m thinking I’ll just have to make two. The wrong purple can be for me. The right one (when I find it) for the intended person.

I knew I should have waited for my spy’s email :)
