A purple tale
Ok, so you all remember the super secret project I want to make? Well I got a purple specially dyed for me to try and get the right purple to go with these bridesmaid dresses
I’m not looking for the exact same shade. That’d be hard to do anyway since I don’t have a swatch of the fabric, just the pic and we all know how different things look on screen. But I want the purple to go with the dresses. My first purple attempt (a purple purple) ended up looking like a red purple next to this photo.
My new attempt is still questionable. Last night in the artifical light when I oppened my parcel, it looked really red. This morning, it’s looking better but I’m still not sure how it’ll go with the dresses. What do you think? Here’s the first purple (the dud) on the left, and the new purple on the right.
Do you think it’ll work with the dress? I know chances of this super secret project being used in Queensland at the beginning of March is very slim, but I want it to be linked to the wedding colours.
My next option is to buy some undyed yarn and do it myself. I have visions of rows of yarn from shades of violet to blue. Could be fun, but perhaps a tad pricey
Edited to add:
Hmm, now it’s on the screen here it looks perfect. But it looks redder than it photographed in real life. Maybe that’s the answer, as I might be trying to match a blue purple that doesn’t actually exist. Please let me know if you think I should use this one or keep looking.

Could you send a bit of the yarn to your secret spy and see what it looks like next to it? Or do they not have access to the dress? Or it could be matched to a swatch card from something like DMC embroidery thread to see which colour it’s closest to and you would know where you’re splodging…good luck!

I think the new yarn is a pretty good match. Do you live near any bridal stores that may carry that dress..You could go in and compare. The people there would think you were crazy, but what the heck it would be worth it…LOL
