Lunchtime walk
I know, you want pics of knitting/quilting/stitching. Well, you’ll have to wait until I can take some photos in the daylight this weekend. Instead I thought I’d show you some pics of where I work.
I work in the middle of the countryside, on a large research campus, next to a little village. The campus has extensive grounds, most of which is undeveloped. There are wetlands too but I don’t go there because someone told me there are a lot of snakes there.
This week I’ve been going to for a walk at lunchtime with one of the girls instead of going to the cafeteria. Today was one of those perfect winter days. The only thing that would have made it better were if we’d had to trudge through a foot of snow. Or had the day off to enjoy it properly. There are lots of places to walk both on campus and off. Let me take you with me today…
Leaving our building we walked towards the convention centre, but stopped on the way to look towards the lake.
After passing the convention centre, you can follow the drive down to the back gate.
The village of Hinxton is on the other side of the gate, and we walked there earlier in the week. Today, we decided to cut across the grass and head towards the bridge.
Over the bridge and down a wooded path
To another little back gate. Out the gate and across the lane to the stream
The bridge over the stream was a beautiful gallery of spiderwebs
But the fields were quite muddy as the ground hadn’t frozen, so we went back across the bridge and back onto campus. Just in the gate we stopped to admire the frost
And we both loved this tree
We decided it was such a pretty, magical day
And a walk in it was a much better way to spend our lunch break than sitting in a loud cafeteria
